Close stellar encounters at the Galactic Centre – I. The effect on the observed stellar populations

چکیده
We model the effects of collisions and close encounters on stellar populations observed in Milky Way nuclear cluster (NSC). Our analysis is based $N$-body simulations which NSC forms by accretion massive clusters around a supermassive black hole. attach to our particles follow evolution their stars, rate encounters. The most common are between pairs main-sequence lead mergers: destructive stars compact objects rare. find that small for three reasons. First, models possess core limits maximum density. Secondly, velocity dispersion similar surface escape velocities minimises collision rate. Finally, whilst destroy bright giants accelerating evolution, they also create them lower-mass stars. These two approximately cancel out. investigate whether G2 cloud could be fuzzball: has accreted tenuous envelope encounter with red giant. conclude fuzzballs cores below $2\,M_\odot$ have thermal times-scales too short reproduce G2. A fuzzball black-hole properties but production such low.

Galactic Stellar Populations
The history of the formation and evolution of the Milky Way Galaxy is found in the spatial distribution, kinematics, age and chemical abundance distributions of long-lived stars. From this fossil record one can in principle extract the star formation histories of different components, their chemical evolution, the stellar Initial Mass Function, the merging history – what merged and when did it ...
متن کاملStellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...
متن کاملThe effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations
Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...
متن کاملGalactic Structure and Stellar Populations
The Milky Way Galaxy offers a unique opportunity for testing theories of galaxy formation and evolution. I discuss how large surveys, both photometric and spectroscopic, of Galactic stars are the keystones of investigations into such fundamental problems as the merging history – and future – of the Galaxy.
